A bull, struck like an ancient coin. This vintage Van Cleef & Arpels zodiac medallion was made by Georges Lenfant, the Paris goldsmith behind the Maison's 1970s zodiac series, and it's modeled on the coins of antiquity. The Taurus bull stands in raised relief on a beaded groundline: head lowered, horn curled, mane rendered in fine combed lines. The disc is heavy 18k yellow gold with a deliberately irregular edge, notched where a hand-struck coin would crack. The reverse is left plain, with a softly textured finish. It hangs from a sturdy cable chain with a ring clasp and a signed bar near the clasp.
