About Van Cleef & Arpels Lucky Alhambra 4 Motif Yellow Gold Bracelet

Four charms, four stones, no repeats. This Van Cleef & Arpels Lucky Alhambra bracelet is 18k yellow gold with a carnelian heart, a malachite leaf, a white mother-of-pearl butterfly and a tiger's eye clover, each one framed in the maison's beaded gold border.

Alhambra began in 1968 as a single shape, the quatrefoil, repeated down a long chain. Lucky Alhambra is what happened when the house let the idea wander. The clover stays, and beside it come three other talismans from the VCA vocabulary, each cut from a stone chosen for its own character: carnelian for its warmth, malachite for its banding, tiger's eye for the way it shifts under light, mother-of-pearl for its sheen. So no two bracelets read quite alike. The malachite alone guarantees that.

Van Cleef and Arpels Backstory

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in Paris in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and the Arpels brothers — Charles, Julien, and Louis — sons of jeweler Salomon Arpels. The maison's Place Vendôme address remains its headquarters more than a century later.

In 1933, Van Cleef & Arpels patented the Mystery Set, an invisible setting technique in which precious stones are mounted with no visible prongs or metalwork between them. The technique requires hundreds of hours per piece and is still used today on the maison's most important high jewelry.

Across collections like Alhambra, Perlée, and Frivole, Van Cleef & Arpels remains one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth-century French jewelry.
