About Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra Long Necklace, Malachite in 18k Yellow Gold

One oversized motif, ninety centimeters of chain, and malachite that looks alive.

This is the Magic Alhambra long necklace — reference VCARO3MG00 — built around a single supersized clover in banded green malachite, framed by VCA's signature golden beaded border. The Magic line scales the Alhambra motif up, and at this size the stone becomes the whole show: each malachite slice carries its own swirling pattern, so no two necklaces ever match. Yours is the only one with these bands.

The chain runs a generous 35.43 inches in 18k yellow gold, finished with the maison's hallmark clasp. Wear it long and let the motif swing, double it up for a layered look, or knot it — the length is the point.

Alhambra has been the most recognizable silhouette in jewelry since 1968, and the malachite pieces are perpetual waitlist material at the boutique.

Van Cleef and Arpels Backstory

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in Paris in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and the Arpels brothers — Charles, Julien, and Louis — sons of jeweler Salomon Arpels. The maison's Place Vendôme address remains its headquarters more than a century later.

In 1933, Van Cleef & Arpels patented the Mystery Set, an invisible setting technique in which precious stones are mounted with no visible prongs or metalwork between them. The technique requires hundreds of hours per piece and is still used today on the maison's most important high jewelry.

Across collections like Alhambra, Perlée, and Frivole, Van Cleef & Arpels remains one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth-century French jewelry.
