About Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra Bracelet 18K Yellow Gold Mother-of-Pearl

One clover. The whole icon, scaled down.

18K yellow gold frames a single mother-of-pearl motif — that milky, color-shifting white Van Cleef built its name on — ringed by the signature beaded gold edge that picks up light from every angle. Sweet Alhambra is the most delicate size in the Alhambra family, and this bracelet wears it on a fine cable-link chain that sits light and close to the wrist. Adjustable stations along the chain let you shorten or lengthen the fit. The clasp is a small lobster closure, secure and low-profile.

Mother-of-pearl never looks the same twice. Warm gold one moment, cool silver the next, depending on how it catches the day. That's the appeal — quiet, but never flat.

Van Cleef and Arpels Backstory

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in Paris in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and the Arpels brothers — Charles, Julien, and Louis — sons of jeweler Salomon Arpels. The maison's Place Vendôme address remains its headquarters more than a century later.

In 1933, Van Cleef & Arpels patented the Mystery Set, an invisible setting technique in which precious stones are mounted with no visible prongs or metalwork between them. The technique requires hundreds of hours per piece and is still used today on the maison's most important high jewelry.

Across collections like Alhambra, Perlée, and Frivole, Van Cleef & Arpels remains one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth-century French jewelry.
